Bullfinch Embroidered Hanging

£95.00

Exquisite embroidery detailing in these one off pieces by Chloe Morter design.

Each one a one-off. With a hanging hoop.

Bullfinch 13cm W x 14cm H

‘My work combines the intricacy and texture of machine embroidery with layers of background collage.  Starting on a linen or cotton ground, pieces are based around an initial embroidery design which is developed from drawings and photos and run on a dedicated embroidery machine.  This is then overworked with free motion embroidery stitching to add detail and depth.  For the backgrounds I work more loosely and intuitively.  I re-use scraps of recycled and often very old careworn fabric, plus prints and handmade paper which I like to combine in an impressionistic and loose style of collage.

Inspiration comes from a keen interest in the natural world – particularly the birds and beasts within the landscape, thinking about the layers and light of the environment as I walk through it.  Colour, texture and pattern play a big part in my work and my lifelong passion for illustration and art history have always been a strong influence.  I like to bring a simple and close focus to the striking beauty of our native birds’ .
